Privacy Policy

Overview

Halley's Big Catch ("the Game") is a free browser-based fishing game operated as a progressive web app (PWA) at kitty-creek.onrender.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information we collect

• Account data: A username you choose and a save PIN (4–6 digits). Your PIN is hashed on our server; we do not store it in plain text.
• Game progress: Level, currency, inventory, catches, achievements, location unlocks, and similar gameplay data stored on your device and, when you sign in, on our game server.
• Social features: Friend codes, friend requests, leaderboard entries, and catch logs you choose to share through in-game features.
• Technical data: Standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps) used to operate and secure the service.

How we use information

• Run the Game and restore your save across devices
• Enable multiplayer, friends, and leaderboard features
• Protect accounts and prevent abuse
• Improve stability and fix bugs

We do not sell your personal information.

Local storage on your device

The Game stores progress in your browser's localStorage so you can play offline or load faster. You can clear this data anytime through your browser or device settings; doing so may remove unsynced progress.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to show ads in the Game. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where allowed by law and your choices.

Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown a Google-certified consent message to manage ad personalization and cookies.

Third-party services

• Google AdSense — advertising
• Hosting (Render) — game and API servers
• Content delivery — libraries such as Three.js may load from public CDNs (e.g. jsDelivr) when you play

Children

The Game is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Data retention & security

We keep account and save data while your account is active. We use reasonable technical measures (including hashed PINs and HTTPS) to protect data, but no system is 100% secure.

Your choices

• Manage ad consent through the in-game or site consent banner (where shown)
• Clear browser storage or use a different browser/device
• Request account or save data deletion by contacting us

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Game after changes means you accept the updated policy.
